Two of our members have had work accepted for Artsmill’s Winter Fair this year. The selling exhibition is over at Linden Mill in Hebden Bridge during late November, early December. Anna Gibson and Angie Rogers will both have 3 works on show and both have images chosen to go on the poster. It looks set to be a high quality show with a lot of interesting work on display. Looking forward to the preview on Sunday 22nd, 2 – 4 pm.
It only seems yesterday that we were taking part in the Summer Open Studios here at Brooklyn Studios and yet the Autumn has rolled on by and its almost time to get the fairy lights out for our annual Festive Open Weekend which this year is taking place during the first weekend of December.
All are very welcome to visit us for a chat, some festive mulled cider or non-alcohol spiced apple warmer, and the opportunity to view new work by our artists and makers.
We hope you can join our seasonal celebrations as once again we are holding our annual Festive Open Weekend this coming Saturday and Sunday,
6 & 7 December, 11 am to 5 pm.
View an exciting range of work by our artists and makers whilst sampling our famous Brooklyn Mulled Cider or our alcohol-free hot apple punch.
The studios are very busy at the moment as everyone is madly getting work ready for our annual Winter Open Studios leading up to the festive season.
Angie Rogers has designed this year’s poster using one of her woodcut and paper cut artworks based on memories of the hoar frost coated Hebden Bridge a couple of winters ago. The work is titled ‘Frozen North’ and is part of a series looking at the idea of ‘The North’.
The Festive Open Studios are always a cheery and convivial event and so we hope to see all our friends and supporters from near and far at the end of the month.
Participating artists and makers are invited by the Open Studios Steering Group to final proof their entry into the Open Studios brochure. It will be available at the Visitors And Canal Centre, Hebden Bridge, from Friday 5th until Friday 12th April.

Owing to the current economic climate and our ever increasing rent we made the difficult decision to convert a large part of our gallery space into a regular sized studio and a double studio. These spaces are currently occupied by existing members.
We have also been joined by new member Jez Tweed who has taken Hannah Lawson’s old space above the printmaking area, whilst Hannah has moved up to Chris Herbert’s old space above the entrance hall (we all enjoy a good old game of musical studios!).
There is still a small gallery area with smooth white boarded walls. This space is suitable for the showing of small to medium scale wall hung works, or small scale 3D, and would be ideal for someone starting out who doesn’t have a large body of work but would like to test out exhibiting their work.
The space could be used for any number of imaginative ideas and we are open to suggestions so contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org if you are interested, need more information or have a proposal. We are especially keen to help people in our local community explore positive new experiences.
